Unconquered Warrior

The Womara Series, Book One

The epic tale begins with one woman’s defiant fight for survival that shapes the destiny of a band of escaped slaves and the generations of women warriors that follow.

Rowan leads a quiet existence in her small village for the first thirteen years of her life. However, her innocence comes to a brutal end the day a band of raiders abducts and assaults her, selling her into slavery. After years of bondage, she makes a life-or-death choice when a rival clan destroys her village, and she flees into the unknown wilds of an ancient forest, taking a small band of followers with her.

Vowing never to be enslaved again, the women struggle to survive deep within their forest world. But, first, they must learn to fight, growing into a clan of fierce warriors. Surrounded by rival male clans, the outsiders call them the Womara—the women who live without men.

Generations later, the Womara are thousands strong. So when the region’s clans propose to build a lucrative trade route, Rowan’s descendant, Seanna, represents the Womara’s interest in a high-stake negotiation for their rightful place in the new alliance.

Ruthless opposition to the women’s clan forces Seanna to make a concession that could shift the balance of power. Rather than sacrifice the Womara’s inclusion in the alliance, she must break a secret oath given to a would-be king, James, whom she had rescued from a deadly assassin’s ambush. Even though strangers, undeniable attraction flourishes and will now set in motion changes that could forever alter the Womara’s future.

Praise

“Intelligent and intriguingly complicated… Unconquered Warrior offers well-thought-out political scenarios, as well as rousing moments that display the women’s fortitude. Readers will want to see what happens next.” Kirkus Reviews

“From relationships between mothers and daughters—which are well-detailed and pointed in their emotional interactions—to plots involving barbarians, disputed territories, kings and murderers, Unconquered Warrior has a fast pace and deep focus on characters tested by social forces, making it a book that is hard to put down.” Midwest Book Review

Unconquered Warrior is a fantastic read, full of strong characters and clever intrigues, that I heartily recommend regardless of your gender. The struggle for women is integral to the story, but the themes of love, duty, honor, and friendship are universal.

Nicely gives us women who live and love on their terms, women who are mothers, daughters, sisters, lovers, and warriors. These are women worthy of respect and admiration, without sacrificing their femininity, and it is heartening to see powerful men come to that same realization. Bob R. Milne, Beauty in Ruins, Female Fantasy authors
